Treo 600! When?

Does anybody know when the Treo600 is to be released? Everything
points to late fall, but it be nice to know exactly when. My Treo300
Is excellent, but beat up a bit from much use. I use almost every
feature of this phone everyday and love it- would even like to beta
test the new one.

I hope the wait isn't like the Kyocera7135 wait last year!

Its just about exactly a year since the Treo 300 first saw the light of
day, and it was first available directly from Handspring.

Before Thanksgiving.

Handspring has a 30 return allowance on Treo phones, as opposed to
the 14 days at Sprint PCS, so one might be well advised to buy any
Handspring directly from handspring.

There hasn't been a date set, at least not that's been released to
public. Anyone in a position to share isn't spilling the beans.

Handspring will not be selling the Treo 600 direct like they did with
the 300. You'll have to but it from the carrier and possibly retail
outlets. There's also talk that www.treocentral.com might be selling
it.

These new Treo 600 smartphones will be priced at a premium compared to
our current Treo line, and are expected to begin shipping late this
fall. At that time, we plan to offer a special upgrade program for
existing Treo owners.

Sure makes it sound like Handspring will be selling it directly, but I
could be wrong. Before the 300 came out, there were reports you wouldn't
be able to buy it direct from Handspring, so......

I'm not saying things can't change, but as of right now, Handspring
won't sell them directly. I'd be willing to bet that it would work
like mail in rebates from manufacturers. You buy your Treo 600 from
Sprint or Costco or wherever, and send the UPC, receipt, and the serial
number of your old Treo to Handspring to get your discount. That's
just a guess, but that's how I think it would work.
