I am considering upgrading my 2 SPCS phones and cannot decide between the
Samsung VGA1000 and the Sanyo 8100. Any ideas or comments on the reliability
and all-around performance of these two unit? My primary issue is I am
looking for the unit that has the best call quality and performance, as
opposed to the camera functions, and additional functions.
Thanks in advance for your comments....

The VGA1000 is only a couple of weeks out. Kinda tough to speak of
reliability in that short a time frame.
But those who've called me have reported being very happy with it so far.
Just looking at a couple of web sites, it and the A600 seem to have
successfully initiated a Samsung vs. Sanyo rivalry. I see people
vociferously "defending" their phones. The VGA1000 is comparably priced to
the 8100, and I think (so far) that it's a win-win for you. Give them both
a tryout in the store to see which one feels better for you.

Sweet... Thanks for the quick reply... I am leaning toward the Samsung as it
has a better feel for me. I have rather large hands and one handed dialing
is easier. Many thanks again....

One reason that I've leaned away from Sanyos, and towards Samsungs,
is speed dialing... The Sanyos only allow single-digit speed dialing
(i.e., digits 0-9), while the Samsungs also allow double and triple-
digit speed dialing.

Re: Samsung VGA1000 -vs- Sanyo 8100- Cant decide which to buy
My wife has the 8100 and I have the VGA 1000 or as Sprint calls it also
the Samsung A620. She loves her phone, thinks it is the best phone from
Sprint she has ever had. I love my phone, but have always been partial
to Samsung. Remember 8100 doens't have zoom, but VGA 1000 does. So far
so good with my phone.. No problems at all..

Re: Samsung VGA1000 -vs- Sanyo 8100- Cant decide which to buy
I am really liking my a620 so far, much better than the 8100 I had. For
one the phone is thinner. My old Body Glove Prizm Pouch I had for my
V60i works with the a620. The sound quality on the a620 is much better.
And the outer LCD screen is much easier to see in daylight. Also the
browser is faster and the page lay out is nicer. The 8100 seemed to
prefer to roam on analog, where as the a620 prefers digital. And the
a620 dose much better in analog (reception & call quality). The
reception is just as good as the 8100.
