My one year contract comes up on August 28. Will I be able to cancel my
service on August 28, or should I wait until August 29 to cancel? I don't
want to get hit with a cancellation fee, but I do not want to have service
with Sprint any longer than I have to. I'm just getting too many dropped
    calls.

They claim their numbers are busier on Monday and Tuesday.

You need to call at least a few days before your billing cycle ends. If you
call on the day it restarts you will have to finish another month as they
    say they can't pro rate.

Your contract does not automatically renew...when August 29th
hits....it just starts a month to month type deal with Sprint PCS.
Same plan and everything but no agreement. But you should tell them
ASAP...like today....that you do not want Sprint PCS anymore. On the
last day of your cycle...will be your last day with Sprint....Good Bye!

If I were you, I'd get the best retention deal I could get based on your
    usage.

Then I'd put the account on vacation. Pay the standby fee. If you don't
need it after a year, let it go. If you do, you should have a good plan.

What is the point behind this? He said he drops calls. If he gets a
retention plan, he *still* drops calls and his concerns have not been
    addressed.

It's Sprint's way of getting another $5 or $10 out of you while not
providing you with service they promised.

    THINK BEFORE YOU POST!

You've managed to insert a Sprint "dig" into virtually every question
    asked.

The question had NOTHING to do with Sprint's policies or practices.

It had to do with "When is the best time to cancel?"

    GROW UP!!!

He asked a question, jerkoff. Learn to read. Or maybe you can't handle
    HONEST answers.

"What is the point behind this? He said he drops calls. If he gets a
retention plan, he *still* drops calls and his concerns have not been
    addressed."

I answered him. Sprint offers to put you on an "emergency" or "vacation"
plan for $5 or $10 per month to keep squeezing money out of you, while not
addressing your concerns or service issues. It's basically what they sell,
"as a favor" to get out of paying normal monthly charges and not paying the
    EFT.

Just pay the "emergency" plan for the next 5 months and it's cheaper than
    the $150 EFT.

You've become(?) nothing but an irritant.

The vast majority of your responses are only posted with the intent
of starting a fight or eliciting some type of flame war.

I'd imagine that, as a kid, you were either beaten up on a regular
    basis, or should have been.

This all should be a moot point, as the OP posted this last month and should
have already cancelled his account. As to the advice on going on the
vacation plan ... it's poor advice. It's already been mentioned here on a
number of occasions that if a person switches to a vacation plan, that
vacation plan does not reduce the time remaining on the AA.

I think he is still a kid living with his folks. In any event, I *believe*
that the seasonal suspend offered by Sprint for a maintenance fee also
suspends your contract, so if you own 10 months on your contract, you still
owe 10 months when you go off of seasonal suspend. So, using that method
does not get you out of your contract. Last I checked, this approach DOES
    work with T-Mobile.
