My 5150 went tits up on me, so they're (sprint) gonna send me a 5300 to
    replace it. Three questions.

Can I expect to receive a new phone or a refirbished phone?

Has anyone had experiences with refirbished models? Are they good bad or
    ugly?

the guy at the store have given me a charger for the new phone. Wouldn't
    that come in the box?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Refurbished. No chargers unless the store is nice. I received two LG 1100
Touchpoints as replacements for my LG 1010 phones. They were reconditioned.
The phones were activated but not charged. I plugged one in on the way home
to check the service and the inside display was blank. The phone was on, I
was able to call *2, but nothing showed up on the display. I had to return
    it the next day.

I'd say that you'll probably receive two working phones, but the chance for
problems does exist. You'd think they would check the phones before handing
them out. The ones I received didn't have any major scratches or physical
    damage.

    Refurb.

    >Has anyone had experiences with refirbished models? Are they good bad or
    >ugly?

My wife's 4900 failed a diagnostic test one day when upgrading
software. They replaced it (still under warranty) with a refurb
immediately. The refurb was in excellent condition and has been working and
testing perfectly since (four months or so).

The downside - refurbs get a six month warranty. So my wife's phone
was like less than two months old when it was replaced, but being new, it
had a one year warranty. The refurb gets a six month. Two months plus six
    months = 8 months -- I lost 1/3 of a year's warranty.

Not for a refurb. I don't know what the terms of a charger are, but
the handset and the recharge unit are two separate devices.

It's six months, or the original warranty. So if the new phone dies
after four months, you get an eight month warranty on the refurb.

If the new phone dies after nine months, then your refurb will have six
months of warranty. You may have to fight with Sprint, but that is how
the warranty is supposed to work.

As has been mentioned several times, more than likely it will be a refurb.
In saying that though, it should have gone through extensive testing, before
it was qualified as a refurb unit. As to the other comments on the warranty,
it follows what ever your original warranty would be, or six months, which
    ever is longer.

Yes, I have, when one of my Samsungs 3500's failed a test. As to the model
SPCS is sending you, the 5300 is a great phone. I think you will like it.

    Not necessarily.

That's not what they told me, but they might have been talking out
    their butts. Who knows.

In any case, refurbished units, regardless of the device, seem
sometimes more reliable than new units. They've often undergone more
testing. My wife hasn't had any trouble with the phone and I doubt she
    will.

Either is possible, though I would expect a refurb. Generally, you get
a refurb if they have them, and if not, then you get a new one.

I've had refurbs and all have turned out to be good. Though granted my
refurb was back when my phone was a TP2200, and the exterior of a 2200
is markedly different (and far more rugged) than the Sanyo models.

Actually, you'd just get the handset, since presumably all of your
    oother accessories would be fine.
