The "See Details" link at www.sprintpcs.com, at the advertisement for tht
$99 for the Sanyo SCP-8100 says this if you click on it:

"Share it when it happens with Picture MailSM that talks from Sprint.

For a limited time, get a PCS VisionSM Picture Phone with built-in camera
(Sanyo® 8100) for just $99.99 after $130 instant savings. With Picture
MailSM you can take digital, full-color pictures and share them instantly
with family and friends anywhere across the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS
Network. You can even attach a voice memo or text message as part of sharing
your pictures. Click here for Picture Mail demo.

Savings are also available on a wide selection of other PCS Phones,
including PCS Vision Phones with full-color screens. View eligible phones.

This special offer ends September 28, 2003. Instant savings available to
customers adding a new line of service on a PCS Free & Clear Plan with
Vision. Requires a two-year PCS Advantage Agreement. Customers purchasing a
phone without a PCS Free & Clear Plan will receive a mail-in rebate."

Notice that last sentence - so does this mean an existing customer, who is
not adding a F&C Plan to this phone purchase, can buy the Sanyo SCP-8100 for
$229.99, and then receive a $130 mail-in rebate? Thw wording above points
in that direction. I'd much rather buy the phone for $229.99 and receive a
$130 rebate later (and then receive the same end price of $99.99) then sign
up for two years, with a new phone number.

Has anyone done this? Where does the rebate form come from (perhaps in the
shipping box - is it online somewhere?)

    Thanks for any replies.

Notice how they separated the 2-year agreement into its own sentence?
That's because the special still requires the 2-year agreement. But yeah,
you can just buy the phone and, after 30 days of service with it, plus the
6-8 week refund turnaround time, get the $130 rebate.

As I understand it, there are cards for this in the store. Perhaps one of
the store reps hereabouts can confirm/refute that.

The Sanyo 8100 is still too popular. They won't let us buy it yet. I'd do
    it if I could.

Thank you for the reply - courteous and helpful as usual.

One final question - and I think I know the answer, but the ad language does
not clearly ***** this out - If one wants to buy the 8100 and use on an
existing account with no new number activation, would the $130 MIR still
apply? I assume not, since even with an existing account (no new number
activated), one would still have to re-sign a 2-year agreement tin order to
have the rebate processed? As the ad language does not specify the
differences in a 2-year agreement between new and existing customers - only
that a MIR is offered for those not choosing an F&C plan - one would
logically assume even existing subscribers wishing to get the $130 MIR would
have to reset a contract for 2 years on their existing account/number.

    Sound correct?

Now, do you see where the confusion comes from? It sounds like they should
have given me a $130 rebate after signing me up for the 2 year contract
    without my permission.

That's my understanding, yeah, it actually *does* apply. Existing=20

Re: Sanyo 8100 for $99 for existing customers?

Thanks again - that is what I figured. Looks like the carriers are really
pushing these two-year contracts. Hmm, I wonder why?

    cough - WLNP - cough

But that is OK - I have tried all the carriers in my market -

Cingular (patchwork of old networks that changes the way phone behaves as
    you travel)
AT&T GSM (horrid - rushed to market, maybe?)
AT&T TDMA (decent service almost everywhere with excellent SMS, but digital
voice quality lacking and OLD phones)
T-Mobile (decent network coverage in my area, but too many fast busies and
garbled voices - T-Zones is ten times worse at being out than Vision has
ever been - at least in my ten days with the service)
Nextel (great service & wireless net access, decent Moto phones (I95cl), but
not consumer-competitive price plans, except the unl. incoming)

and am one of the few that actually have no issues with SPCS at all with
service quality, voice quality, or customer service (again folks, in my
market). Full reception anywhere in my home and at work, great phones
(Sanyo...yeah, baby, yeah), and online everything (it works for me much more
often than not). Rarely call CS for anything, and it has been hit and miss
for help. Generally, I do get decent service when I call, unless I end up
in India where the dialects are hard to understand. If I had to call every
month like some people in this group apparently do, I may be singing a
    different tune.

    Take care.

Well, then they are absolutely assinine to assume that I would take a $100
discount "for my troubles" when there is a $130 mail in rebate available.

Basically, "for my troubles" they gave me less of a discount and signed me
up for a 2 year contract without asking me.

    I work for SprintPCS
    I *don't* speak for them.

First, I didn't ask for the $100 discount. And for the last time, before I
do killfile you, if they were doing me a favor for my troubles, they did me
no favor that I could not have gotten otherwise.
They neither explained the $130 rebate, nor did they ask me if I wanted a
    two year contract.

So basically, I got a worse deal than another customer taking the $130
rebate as an existing customer. And in the name of "we're doing you a favor
for your troubles". That's the point. You can continue to make excuses for
    Sprint if you want.

The other point is, you're still wrong about the price of the phone at the
time I bought them. You assumed to know when I bought them and posted an
arguement to be an ass when you didn't have all the facts.

And you've yet to admit doing that. You can't back up ****. You just post
willy nilly and expect people to take your word for it because you have a
job with Sprint. Now, really, I'm done with you. No more lies from you.

    Bye.

I didn't lie. You didn't seek your "rebate" from a store. Hence, you=20
    didn't get the store rebate.

Here goes the morphing story again. By the way, I long ago already=20
conceded the point about the contract. That's the perfect example of=20
your inability to carry on a basic discussion.

You still won't admit it. You sought something from Customer Care. =20
Customer Care gave you what they could. I'd be *real* interested in=20
finding out how many times you told them you didn't want to go back to a=20
store before they offered you that $100.

What happens to others, or what they get, doesn't necessarily apply to=20
    you, Justin.

More false assumptions and unfounded allegations. When I don't know for=20
sure, I say so. When I have experience with something, I say so, and,=20
unlike you, when I'm wrong, I say so.
