Did you even read that April press release?

"Sprint will offer the PCS Phone by Sony Ericsson T608 in the second
    quarter of 2003."

It is now after June 30, 2003.

Is it 2 weeks after June 30th yet?

"Sprint will offer the PCS Phone by Sony Ericsson T608 in the second
quarter of 2003." is what the SprintPCS press release said.

I think my estimate is more accurate.

    The 12th of Never.

They rarely give accurate information to the stores, which is why I
never beleive dates until I see them in any of my in-transit reports
    (and I've been looking).

Best shot we usualy get is a 2-4 week window in our logistics calls (and
    nothing was said this week)

Elsewhere a Sprint person said they were told for a fact that the T608
    will never be released.

I wasn't speaking specificly of the T608. Last I knew (about a month
and a half ago) thoe T608 was going to be a Telematics only handset, but
we all know these things can change overnight.

I haven't heard differently recently, but then again, I haven't asked
    either.

    Re: Sprint Bluetooth Phones

There were issues with the phone that had to be worked out. They have
been and they are now making small adjustments and testing them in bulk.
They are on the last step to approval and should hit shelves before or
shortly after hollidays. They are shooting for before.

    Re: Sprint Bluetooth Phones

The manufacturers also have a tendency of changing things that cause the
phone to no longer work. Sprint may send the phone back with a list of
minor adjustments and get a basically new phone back.

The best form of this is LG. Sprint approved the phone and released it
to the public only to find out that LG neglected to mention the fact
that they changed a few key components right before shipping.

This is the kind off stuff they are trying to prevent. Sprint is just
trying to make sure the phone works before you get it.

Is that like buying carpeting when the stuff they deliver is lower
quality than the stuff on display at the store?

Manufacturers are always trying to find lower cost ways of making things.

I think after the 1010 fiasco, we may even see SprintPCS engineers going
back to the manufacturers, like they used to.

That issue was also the reason why it took a while for the 1200 to come
out, Sprint tested the hell out of that phone, including mass-produced
    units.
