I have an N400, and have had no major problems. It is no worse than
any of the other phones I've had. As for your problems, it sounds like
a PRL problem, not a hardware problem.

Mine must be defective because it works fine.

    Fwiw,
I have two N400's Really unhappy with them when I bought them.
Locked up, addresbook switched entries and number assignments etc.

Finally go them in for updating, SPCS replaced one of the two claiming
it was "fried". Whatever (i don't have the MSL for that one now, but oh
    well.)

    Anyway, both phones are running
    PRL 10019
    Firmware WD12

and much more stable, though my wife's locked up just a couple days ago,
she called my on our trusty dual-band Touchpoint (Denso 120) to find out
what to do (pull the battery and plug it back in).
