I disagree with the activation fee being nonrefundable. Sometimes people
buy phones on the word of a salesman (of any carrier) "Yes, we have
excellent coverage over in 'our known dead zone'".
Consumer advocate Groups and the state of California would like the
trial period to be 30 days, as was once the standard; but that still
would not fully cover someone who travels frequently, although likely in
most cases a FCA plan would.

In answer to the first poster's query, SPCS customer service is about
as useless and rude as this flaming jackass.
But many of us have gotten used to it.
Phone selection was a key factor in keeping me with them despite iffy
reception in Dallas and abysmal customer service.

I have NEVER had a problem with my PCS phone service. Only the
customer service. I have not had a CSR that was rude but have had a
few that were clueless. My few trips to an actual store were all good
experiences also. I have had various billing issues every month since
my contract started. They do get resolved but it takes a call to CS
first. Once my plan and the billing settles out, I will be
completely satisfied.
Caution: Opinions below...
Not limited to Sprint but what seems to work is be nice and you are
treated nice. Treat others as you expect to be treated I guess, it
really does work. After all, we are all people. YMMV

The real story here is this, Karen: you have the opportunity to try
Sprint out for yourself for 14 days. I suggest you do that. Buy a
phone, sign up and use the heack out of it for two weeks. The MOMENT
you run into problems that are unacceptable to you, cancel immediately
and rturn your phone, pay for the airtime you did use, and be done with it.
If after two weeks, you have no problems, then chances are, you're going
to be very happy with the service.
Yes, there are a lot of negative posts here. But take a look around.
Exactly how many people are saying bad things about Sprint on this
newsgroup? So far, I count two, who just happen to be excessively
vocal, and have huge vendettas, against Sprint. Okay, well, eight if
you count all of phillipe's different identities.
For what it's worth, I was with Sprint in 97, left for a while because I
moved to a place that had no Sprint coverage, and then in 98 I jumped
right back into Sprint when they expanded their coverage, and I haven't
left since. I've been happy with the service, and I personally know 8
people among my group of friends who have Sprint phones, and are also
happy with them... which more than makes up for the trolls on here, I
think.

You're also forgetting what happens when the 14 day trial period goes ok,
but later the service gets ****ty. Then you're hosed unless you write
letters.

He'd also be stuck with the $36 activation fee, and about $5 of taxes

Yes, and? Sprint makes no bones about the fact that the fee is non-refundable.
I was told as much when I signed up for service. If you don't like it, the
best option is to not try Sprint at all.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion as to whether it is fair or not.
Some people will undoubtedly think it's unfair. But for better or worse, I
seriously doubt the policy will change.
So Phil, when are you going to answer that question Bob posed to you about
your complaint? Still haven't seen details.

Why are you still knocking Phillipe for answers to a question right after
telling me to shut up about Rob?
****ing hypocrite.

You may notice that I actually made a direct counter to a point that he
made, which was the reason I posted.
> ****ing hypocrite.
Dude, I originally said "how about an answer to Bob Smith's question"
a day or two ago. Not only that, but even though I've said in the past
that I was going to call Foolippe out every time he lied or misrepresented
something, I've stopped doing it. It's not worth my time, it's not worth
the time for other people to have to read it. I slipped this time. Given
some of the things he's said about me, it's taken a great deal of restraint
for me not to go off on him.
I'm going to leave him alone about the Bob Smith question, since it's obvious
that he's not going to answer it.
I don't insist on fighting battles for weeks and weeks that, at best, will
end in a stalemate. So guess what - I'm not a hypocrite.

Exactly, Bob is apparently getting up in his age and he forgets things, asks
questions more than once, grumbles that you repeat things over, then points
out that you mi*****ed sumething.
It's ok that Steven considers pestering you about your names an example of
being a hypocrite, two or three days ago, yet pestering about the other
question Bob asked you does not make him a hypocrite.
