    This is a hoot!

"Eartha", whoever she might be, calls yesterday and wants to make me this
"fantastic" upgrade offer. Currently, I have NO contract, 400 anytime
minutes for $49. She offers to increase it to 600 minutes, unlimited on
nights and weekends. Same money. Didn't say anything about PCS to PCS.
    Wanted a 1 year contract....

So, I told her that once Sprint reimbursed me the $49 in late charges they
stole from me (see my "Couple Questions" thread), and upgraded this crappy
Samsung phone to one I can actually hear on...I'd consider it. Otherwise,
November 24 and portability is approaching rapidly.

    She hung up.

Sprint REALLY wants your business, folks.

To be fair to Eartha, she likely has no authority to change the ofer,
but is expected to make 30 calls per hour.

I bet you never go over the 400 minutes, so Sprint figures it'd cost
them zero to "give" you 600.

I saw a sign at a Sprint store the other day for 1000 anytime minutes at
$45. I didn't bother since I'm waiting for the November number portability
to see what Verizon can do for me.

Thats for Sprint's Local plan.. not nationwide. Its just like Verizons
    Local Digital Choice plans.

    It is a great script:

Have you had your phone software updated?
Have you taken your phone to the store for a diagnostics check?
Have you filed a trouble ticket?
No, we're not waiving ETF fees right now.
    Thanks for using SprintPCS.

please do me a favor.. what was the number that came across on your
    caller ID for that call??

I ask this becuz, I recieved 2 calls from an out-of-state number, but I
was unable to answer them, and when I called the number it said
something about calling me for a special offer, but did not say who the
call was from. I was wanting to see if it was from Sprint PCS.

I know VZW will periodically send offers to customer nearing the end of
their contract or have already passed the end of their contract, to
offer them special deals to get them to stick around and renew their
contract.. I am hoping Sprint PCS is starting this too.

I was half joking, but only half. No one likes it when they're called a
liar for no reason. Seems OK for Rob and Bob Smith to do, but not for
    anyone else.

Keep in mind only the carriers operating in the top100 markets have to allow
porting in or out in Nov. Otherwise, it's May 04. So if you are a Sprint
customer in a non-top 100 market you might not necessarily get to port in
    Nov.

I'm in Hotlanta....just yesterday, I saw a car with 3 young girls in it.
All 3 were on cells.....probably talking to each other. I think ATL is one
of the most concentrated cell areas in the country.

I know, I thank Unions everyday.

    40 Hour Week
    Vacations
    Health Insurance

etc, etc. All achieved only by Unions.

Thats an average. Only takes 10 seconds for a non answer or a hangup.
