I am looking at replacing my pager and use SprintPCS notifications. If
I have Vision, I know the cost is included. What is the cost if I
don't have Vision? How about with an older 2G phone? Does having
Wireless Web make a difference? Is there a limit per month for
    notifications?

If you add-a-phone (i.e. an older 2G phone) to a plan that has a primary
phone which is Vision (even if Vision is not active, as long as it once was)
you should receive inbound text notifications for free.

    Yep.

Still free. Notifications still are no charge. They don't count as KB=20
and they don't really use any airtime.

Theoretically, yes, there's a limit. 50 per month with Wireless Web=20
service, and then 10=A2 per message after that. I've never come across an=
    =20
account where that charge ever actually showed up, though.

Wireless Web can only be added to the 2G, non vision phones. However,
IIRC, it does allow for some number fof notifications (way back when I
had it, it was something like 250 a month).

For a Vision phone, you're pretty much relegated to subscribing to a
Vision pack. Otherwise, I *think* you're charge per kilobyte.

Its 1 cent per K then. 2K = one full 8.5 x 11 page of text. Using that math: 50
messages might cost $0.75; somewhat less than the $15.00 Vision would cost.

What about the charge for notifications if you have neither Vision nor
the Wireless Web? I have a Nokia 3585i (which has no web browser) and
have set up to receive notifications from yahoo for some college
football and basketball scores. Is it 10 cents per inbound message?

    Thanks,
    Eric

In my experience phones not on a wireless web plan or vision plan cannot
and will not receive alerts. This may not be the case for you but was
    for me.

Yeah, I can still get one-way messaging and alerts on my 3585i. The
phone itself doesn't even have a web browser. Does anyone know how much
    these individual alerts cost?
