Funny that (presumably) the state of Texas is advertising a list meant
to curb unsolicited, unwanted advertisements by sending out unsolicited,
    unwanted advertisements.

Also funny is that they're charging for it! Missouri's no-call is free
    for us!

Any idea on how we could find out who sent these messages? I have an
idea, but need proof such as would be provided by the IP Adress of the
sender through the sprint shortmail system. Hundreds of thousands of
    these messages were probably sent.

Here's a little bit of WHOIS information on that domain:

Somehow, I don't think that's any government agency, Federal, Texas, or=20
otherwise. Give them your phone #, and I'll just bet that'll establish=20
the "business relationship" that lets them bypass the federal Do Not=20
Call list. Especially not with Massachusetts addresses:

    Administrative Contact:

Yeah, I included their real email addresses here. =20

    1) it's a public record

The State of Texas set up its own do not call mechanism and list.

Texas is charging for it? Unbelieveable!

Well, looking at their site, the Texas list costs $2.25 per number. Not
    *too* bad, but still annoying.

Yup here is from texas site:

    INTRODUCTION

Beginning on January 1, 2002, you can add your name, address and
telephone number to state-sponsored "No Call Lists," which will help
limit telemarketing calls to your home or business. You can choose to
register a residential telephone number for one or both of two "No Call
Lists" sponsored by the Public Utility Commission (PUC.)

    STATEWIDE "DO NOT CALL" LIST

The first list, a statewide "Do Not Call List," will apply to any
telephone marketer, including Retail Electric Providers, calling a Texas
residential phone number. There is a registration charge of $2.25 for
each residential phone number to be included in this list only. Your
registered residential telephone number(s) will remain on this list for
    three years.

Beginning January 1, 2004 cell phone numbers may enroll for the
    statewide "Do Not Call List".

The Texas no call list is a joke and ripoff. My home number is no it
and I still get sales calls all day long.

I'd be real curious to find out why "The State of Texas" is running it's=20
