Hello,
Being a new owner of the Nokia 3588i thanks to some assistance from a
helpful member of this newsgroup... I have to say that I am looking very
forward to Sprint implementing true SMS in the future.
My hopes are that Sprint can roll it out sooner than December, as I have
read that is the planned launch month.
Rob, have you guys received a lot of calls concerning new 3588i owners
not being able to use the sms function built into the phone? What have
you been telling the ones who call in? Are there already talks about
monthly fees for sms and pricing options?
I hope it can roll out really soon... I don't think it would be
extremely difficult as Virgin Mobile uses true sms and it runs off of
Sprint's network and towers. But that would be just a guess.

Re: Looking forward to SMS on Sprint
Given Sprint's record of delivering things on time
(PTT soon right after Verizon?) (T608 real soon ow?), and varga's record of not
having good information, I think there's a btter than even chance that
September will come and go and Sprint will still not have SMS.
After all they'll be too busy providing information for WNP for lal the folks
leaving.

A message showed up in our updates just yesterday. SMS is scheduled for=20
rollout "in December." But that's all we've been told. And yes, apparentl=

we *have* received quite a few calls, which is why, I suspect, we were=20
authorized to give the December information.

Um, it wasn't Sprint's fault that SonyEricsson decided to stop making CDMA
handsets, and when has anything been promised for PTT?

The only timeframe I have officially seen was a comment by Lauer (?)
when he took over, that they would like to have it up and running by the
end of 2003.

Re: Looking forward to SMS on Sprint
I don't know how trusting of that dec. deadline I would be, although
since sprint never seems to release deadlines for anything it has a
possibility to be correct.
We'll know when it arrives.
