Hi
I was wondering if any of you have heard
of any of the problems I've been having
with getting a Handspring Treo 600 to work
reliably with Sprint PCS mail. I've been to
a full service Sprint store twice and have
been on the phone with tech support for
about a total of 6 hrs over the past few
days. So far nonoe of the fixes have stuck,
so I'm trying to figure out if it's the Treo
at fault or Sprint.
Every other wireless web function works
except for the PCS mail. Initially it worked
for a while before this random login name and
PW screen started popping up on the Treo.
This appears to be a bogus request. I've come
to dread seeing that screen. It means that
email is broken again, because no matter what
you put in, you'll be greeted by an
"Application Error" message.
The tech support people at Sprint would have
me try one thing or the other, in addition to
their accessing the Treo directly. But despite
whatever tricks they tried, the Treo would
only sucessfully access email for a short time
before the dreaded logon screen appears yet
again. Somtimes it will randomly work for a
brief period of time, but that's not exactly
acceptible. So before sending the Treo back
and canceling the Sprint service, is there
anything else I can try, or does anyone else
have or know of any similar problems?
Thanks in advance

I'd suggest go to a SprintPCS store, and get to try it simultaneously on a
Samsung I330, and your Treo 600. If it is not working on the Treo 600 then :
If it works on the Samsung, the Treo is the problem.
If it also doesn't work on the Samsung, either email is down, or the
authentication server is down, and its Sprints email's fault.
Either way its not good. If you can't get your email, that's a bad thing.

In the launcher, hit menu-delete..*****oll down and delete "Web Cookies".
Launch the browser and then do to the PCS Vision homepage and see if
you can access your email now. I had a similar problem with Short Mail
and this fixed it for me.

Re: Treo 600/Sprint PCS Mail Woes
Thanks guys.
Handspring got involved and are escalating it to a second level
support team who will supposedly contact me Monday. I'm a
little burnt out from screwing with it any further for the
moment. It's not even my Treo -- I had recommended it to a
client who wanted a nice little do-it-all PDA/web/email device.
So now I'm feeling a little silly recommending a new, untried
product, but there really isn't any other comparable device on
the market that has everything so well integrated.
I did think of a possible workaround if all else fails: just
have her get a Yahoo account and use their Mobility version for
her WAP portal. Yahoo can pull down from pop3 accounts, which
is really all what the SprintPCS portal was going to be used
for. Since the problems have all been with SprintPCS mail
access site, I'm hoping if I can negate the need to use it, then
the problem will be solved. In a not-totally-satisfying way,
perhaps, but....

Re: Treo 600/Sprint PCS Mail Woes
I've been using my Treo 600 Flawlessly for two weeks now -
sending/receiving Email simultaneously from multiple POP3 Mail accounts
using Snappermail (snappermail.com)
Works flawlessly - a Fantastic device with a fantastic program

You're talking about accessing it via the Vision homepage, correct? =20
That's been giving us lots of trouble. As you've pointed out, though,=20
PCS mail is fully accessible via POP3 access, so you can install a free=20
client like Eudora, or buy one like Snappermail, and they'll let you=20
download the messages right to your phone.
That login prompt has been evading us for months. It hangs around for a=20
time, gets intermittent, then suddenly disappears. I had it on my N400=20
for about a week or so back in March. Once it disappeared, it hasn't=20
been back so far. We're trying to figure it out.

Thanks for posting this, Brooose. I was having this exact issue on my
Sanyo 8100 and deleting the cookies did the trick.

Re: Treo 600/Sprint PCS Mail Woes
FYI -- The mysterious logon screen went on hiatus
Tuesday so we're in wait-and-see mode. In the
meantime a Handsping tech told me: "To my knowledge
Sprint is in the process of upgrading its PCSBussiness
Connect component of their network to version 6 and
this upgrade may be interfering with your email
service."
For what it's worth.
