We have received very threatening calls against my small child. Police
just got result of subpoena of Verizon records of the cell ph #. States #
was not assigned at time of call. Police also have a complaint from 3 yrs
ago of calls from same cell #. Again...# unassigned. Cell rep told
detective she has no idea how this can happen. Any thoughts? Thanks.

....A cloned cell phone? A stolen cell phone? The result of some other type
    of fraud against Verizon?

Just speculating, as I have absolutely no idea... perhaps you should find
out if someone can identify the ESN (electronic serial number) of the phone
used to make the call. May help, may not, not sure... but that's the only
    suggestion I have.

I was going to ask the same thing -- i.e., what's an 'unassigned number' -- unless we're talking about someone who works for the company, in an area that assigns the numbers in the first place!
