In the past couple weeks, www.callwavemobile.com added a second phone and a
second network to their line-up.

Now Callwave Mobile is offering two refurbished phone models (both free):

Nokia 5165 (TDMA) - uses the Cingular Network

Motorola v120e (CDMA) - uses the Verizon Network

Model choice is zipcode dependent. With my zipcode only the Motorola
v120e
was available thru Verizon. I would not complain about that, but some
zipcodes may only offer the Nokia 5165, and that I would complain about.
TDMA is a dying technology

Callwave Mobile now has a referral system like TracFone. Every person you
refer to Callwave Mobile (that activates) will receive 30 airtime minutes.
The user that referred them will receive 60 free airtime minutes.

They offer an optional plan that would not be required for most users (I
don't think). With this service you get bonus minutes tracking via email
and internet retrieval of voice message using Callwave answering machine
software:

"CallWave Mobile Rewards Service - All the great features
of CallWave Mobile Rewards are included for a
daily service fee of 27¢ (billed monthly). Refill
minutes must be purchased separately."

They don't state on their website how roaming calls or off-network are
charged?

With Callwave Mobile the minutes are accounted for and deducted on the
network side of the system, unlike TracFone that accounts for and deducts
minutes inside the phone and only when the phone is turned on and operating.
I don't like this because Callwave Mobile, Cingular, and Verizon control
your minutes, not you.

Callwave Mobile offers a cute feature called "Follow Me Home" which
redirects cellphone calls to your house when the cellphone is turned off.

Depending on the availability of Callwave Mobile airtime cards, this might
be a good alternative to TracFone.

Now that they have a phone that works with the Verizon CDMA network,
coverage will be very good!
