I want to use NET10 Prepaid phone service, but I don't want to use any of
the NET10 phones that I am forced to buy with the NET10 Prepaid phone
    service.

What I want to do is:
    1) Buy the cheapest NET10 phone with a SIM card that I can find.
    2) Take the SIM card that comes with the NET10 Prepaid phone and put it in
    my Motorola RAZR.
    3) Toss the NET10 phone that I purchased just to get the SIM card.
    4) Activate Net10 Prepaid service in my Motorola RAZR.

Does anyone know if NET10 will activate my RAZR if I try that?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

    JoshIII Responds:

    Hi JM,

You can *ONLY* use a Net10 SIM in a Net10 phone.

Never heard of NET10, but I see you are using a SIM card, which I presume
    means you are using GSM?

In which case the card ~should~ log on, but usual disclaimer - YMMV!

Net10 is a prepaid service offered by TracFone (surely you've heard of them?)

TracFone uses different carriers for its legacy service, but Net10 is
    strictly Cingular GSM.

And the reason.....it may be amazing to some that the Internet is not only
    available in the USA!

But a vast majority of the people posting on this newsgroup are in the US,
and there is no information in your posts identifying you as a non-US
resident. So I apologize for the incorrect assumption, but it was a
reasonable one based on what I know about alt.cellular.
