I have the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks this summer in a great
cabin in Middle TN, but teh cabin is completely of the grid, and is in an
area where the cell signal is iffy at best - sometimes 3 or 4 bars,
sometimes nothing for hours at a time.

While that wouldn't be a problem if the trip were purely a vacation trip,
I do need to stay in touch with the office and get market quotes a few
times a day (the perils of owning your own business). The choice is
basically figure out how to get reliable cell service to the cabin, and
spend my mornings fishing on the pond, reading on the porch, or enjoying
the bluffline view while I make a half dozen business calls, or cut my
vacation time in half, and drive into town every morning for 3-4 hours to
get online and make phone calls.

The cabin's only a couple of miles from a cell tower, but its on the side
of the hill the tower sits on top of, and most of the area between the
cabin and the tower are heavily wooded.

So - I've seen some cell repeaters designed for metal buildings and the
like, and am wondering of one of these with a good antenna would be a
worthwhile investment. Ideally, I'd like something that would still let
me walk freely around the cabin without being tethered to an antenna, but
still get reliable signal. If after my vacation, I could use it in my
brick home or metal shop to improve cell signal indoors, that'd be a big
plus, too. I also need an antena I can temporarily mount at the cabin and
take down withouy damaging anything.

Suggestions?
