GM is providing a 'free' upgrade to AMPS-only cars, if you pre-pay for
three years of service at $16.95/month.

Ugh .. These slide out keyboards being mechanical , yep mechanical will not
    last
worth a crap. Look at laptop computers. They have ribbon cables going from
    the
CPU to the monitor that given their below average use, fail with
    malice. My
treo 300 mechanical cover with the on switch dependent on it. 1.5 years
    and
snap, no good any more. I'll be curious after the ipod battery debacle
    how
these units fair in the class action lawsuit arena.

I've been through every invocation of CE from the old Jornada.to the
    Casio to
the Ipaq. Every time More ram being added , more speed blah blah.
    CE/PPC
suffers from processor changes every generation, making your older software
    that
was cool , useless on the new processor. Given that its battery life sux
    totally
and Activesyncs retarded restore that wont work, I went to Palm and stayed.

At first it seemed too simple. But as time went by I found very nice apps to
    run
on my old Kyocera phone which still works and runs EVERY app made
    for a
palm pilot. Never a processor issue ever. I'm up to a Palm 600 phone
    which I
Love !! I don't talk on it that much but that there if I need it, and
    as
long as people can understand me on the other side I'm happy. I use it
    for
spreadsheets to time intersection controllers, for accessing the California
    CHP
Incident page to look for accidents blocking lanes on my usual rat path
    home.
This it does MUCH better than IE on the PPC Phones !! You can scroll
    around
while driving to look at the info in a glance, I think not. And the one
    column
mode is a total unreadable joke, that's PPC, blazer on the palm phones
    formats
the page perfectly and readable on its *cough "crappy display" Who needs a
    good
display when Mikeysofts stupid programmers cant put information on
    it
    intelligibly

I play games on the thing while waiting in the grocery line etc. etc. The
    memo
pad on the palm is much much better than the one on the CE
    PPC
Machines. There's no categorization on the PPC's and you cant
    recurse
directories on the stupid thing. Its big , a power hog but does have
    one
Very good use .. For gps in the car. The transflective display works
    great on
    my dashboard.

For phones with computers in them Palm has the best by far
    implementation of
their software which is tiny with huge functionality. PPC Phones are two
    handed
phones, Palm is a one handed phone. Which may explain why there are
    more
vehicle accidents attributed to cell phone usage while driving with no
    hands.

You forgot to mention that the palm apps for doing
excel and word docs are much better than MS's pda
    counterparts.

Back to Larry's comments... Larry wouldn't know a pda
from a hole in the ground. Larry just discovered net stumbler
and now gets a huge charge out of walking around town
and using !FREE! wireless internet access. For an even
bigger thrill Larry spends the rest of his time doing stupid
pet tricks trying to fool the minimum wage help in the
    Verizon Wireless stores...

Au Contraire, Quicky. I've become somewhat of a Treo 650 guru I don't
really want to be, after consulting with the seemingly ONLY Treo expert
Verizon has in Dallas. Giving up on trying to sync all the various
functions, we ended up in the local Verizon company store to the usual
blank stares. Someone panic'd and gave me the secret number so I could
has "Him" all these questions. I used their phone and in no time found
out that if you sync over Verizon, you can't sync that function over the
cable, which isn't covered anywhere I could find, which was really
screwing us up. Several long keystroke procedures on the office
computer's Palm Desktop, re-installing it all on the phone after a hard
reset to upgrade the mistakes in programming in the first place, then
configuring Verizon through the personal webpage interface, the phone
directly and the Palm Desktop so that certain functions program when you
push the button on the sync cable, email syncs over the air so he can
leave the office and still get emails, and other choices we made who
syncs what and he's one happy camper. It never really worked before with
the tech support from VZW trying to hide their ignorance of it.

Now, if he'd only kept his mouth shut to all his Treo-equipped friends
and business associates...(c; I've rebuilt 8 to date, some with some
really cool software. I kept one an extra day because it was so much fun
to have the NYSE and NASDAQ at my fingertips with realtime software
running as you walk, keeping you alert that Xquat Systems just had a
major transaction and their stock tanked 8% in the last 30 seconds. That
one belonged to a banker, who is a day trader. Really cool Treo, that
    one...(c;

Which Palm do you have, Quicky?
