I've started this post to evaluate the Nav4all Java script software in
combination with a Holux GPSlim 236 receiver and a Sony Ericsson v600i
mobile phone (umts).

My expectations were quite high. The Nav4all website is not very
informative, but the details given are promising. Ordering the GPS
receiver went quick with a delivery within 20 hours. Bless them! So far
so good. Downloading the 244 Kb Java script went smoothly, yet after
installing the first difficulty arose. Connecting both devices is one
thing, but to actually start navigating the Nav4all software takes
about 8 minutes to come up with the first directions. This takes to
long. By the time I get a direction I could have studied the map. When
the directions finally start the display is user friendly. It shows the
next direction to take and also the second direction in the upper right
hand corner of the screen (if the second direction comes within 500
meters after the first). However, the displayed directions seem to lay
behind for about 4 or 5 seconds. On the motorway this means the
directions are about 400 meters behind and even in city traffic this
leads up to a 50 meter layback. In particular city traffic this can be
a headache when having to decide which turn to take within seconds.
Is there hope for this device? Indeed the software will get better in
the near future as it is quite experimental. The package mentions the
mystical 'fuzzy logic' which has an aura of artificial
intelligence... maybe the device 'learns' from experience. I guess
the future will tell.

Any more users with similar experiences? Please let me know.

ps: I will follow up to this post with further details after I've
experimented for a few days.
