We have to start saving money on our cell phone service. Someone
suggested Vonage. I don't know anything about this company. Is it any
good? Is it a bad choice? Any information on this company would
greatly be appreciated. Are there any online cell phone service
reviews?
Thanks

You are correct, You DON'T know anything about Vonage!.
Vonage is a VoIP service. It's a local/long distance carrier for your home.
Yes..it's very good for that.
It is NOT a mobile/cellular phone service.

Here's the best way to cut phone cost to the bone. Get Vonage for
your "land line." That means canceling AT&T or whoever currently
sends you a bill. Then get a really good pay-as-you go cell. Use
the cell only when you need a cell... away from home. Vonage will
give you unlimited local/long distance for $30/mo. T-Mobil, Virgin
Mobil,
or Page Plus Cellular will cost you less than $10/mo if you use it
minimally.

One fact that Vonage conveniently fails to disclose is that a full 25% of
its customers leave the service in their first year. I have a similar
offering from Verizon ("VoiceWing") and there is a definite reduction in the
quality of the audio on VoIP. Some people can accept it, others cannot.
There is also a latency factor, where it takes a moment before one's voice
is heard on the other end of the conversation. This can vary from one call
to another.
Vonage has not turned a single cent in profit since it began. I see VoIP as
a solution for "cheap" phone service, but it is not of equal quality to
POTS.
