    Hello,
I am on a Cingular family talk plan and want to add a third cell phone
for my brother. I don't need anything fancy, just something which I
can put a password lock on and that has decent call quality.

    Here are my questions:

    1) Do I just need a GSM phone?

    2) If I get one, do I just sign up for another account and assign the
    SIM card number to it?

    3) Can anyone recommend an inexpensive phone but also meets my
    requirements stated above.

I know I can get them cheap if I sign up for a long term contract, but
I don't want to have to do that.

    Thanks

yes, for Cingular. Specifically you need a phone that is either Cingualar
branded or unlocked. If unlocked, it needs to work on the 850MHZ and 1900
    mhz frequencies.

You already said that you wanted to add him to your family plan, so that
would be done through customer care. And you would receive a new sim which
you would put in the phone.

Nokia's are pretty good, but you really need to try out the phones yourself
to see if they are acceptable.
