I have a Kyocera 7135 smartphone with VerizonWireless. When my phone is
turned on I have the following message along with a yellow triangle:
Service required. Contact provider.
What does this mean?
Thanks for any and all responses.

Re: Service required. Contact provider.
Not to sound flip, but just what it says.
You need to contact VZW

I guess what I mean is does the phone need repair or new firmware or
etc.?
It's my back up phone and if it needs repair then I'm better off
financially buying a used one on eBay.

You'll have a hard time activating the phone as it's not E911 compliant..
Even if it was previously used on VZW.
Sorry

Andy,
I already checked and it is one of the later 7135s and is in fact E911
compliant.

Did not know that they issued one that was E911 compliant. That's good.
As to your original post. Are you trying to use it as a data device.
Meaning do you or DID you have a data plan
with the phone? If not, you may need to activate that too.
You should also check out www.howardforums.com
There is a section on Kyocera phones that may be more helpful than I am.
One question. Are you located in the USA?
I ask, because of your reply address
