Virgin Mobile Cheap Phone Question

Got a cheap phone earlier this year and I only needed to use it once to
make one call so I was able to use the few dollars credit that they
give to get you started. I'd like to use this phone again for other
purposes but have no use or need to pay $20.00 to get it going again.
Is there any way to use this phone in conjunction with those $5.00
phone cards I see. TIA.
