I can find several reviews about the Phonlabs Dock N Talk product on CNet,
but nothing on the Cidco Communications Merge product. Both provide
solutions for using your cell phone through household wiring.

Has anyone used either product, and if so, what is your opinion?

The Phonelabs web site cautions about the potential impact of household
WI-FI usage on the bluetooth connection between the phone and Dock N Talk.
Has anyone had experience, good or bad, regarding that?

    Thanks,
    Richard Davies

While I've never used that product, I don't see why it should be
different than any other bluetooth product in a Wi-Fi environment (both
    use the 2.4GHz band.)

My bluetooth devices work just fine in my house, which utilizes a Wi-Fi
    network and 2.4GHz cordless phones.

I had better luck with the Merge with a Motorola V710 and T720. The Dock N
Talk requires two cable connections, which is inconvenient. Further, I
usually had to power cycle the phone to get things working properly after
using it. With Merge or the Cellsocket, you just stick the phone in and all
is well. I have not tried the Dock N Talk with Bluetooth, but may in the
future. I'm hoping my carrier will be providing the Treo 700 soon and the
Dock N Talk is the only option for that one.

We picked up the Dock N Talk ( www.dock-n-talk.biz ) recently and
so far it is a -0- complaint item. I have not heard about the
other product but will try to get a look at it.

Regarding Bluetooth, we have a wireless LAN and someone using a
    Bluetooth headset with no problem.

Your link comes up error 403, saying it is forbidden.

I did a bit of research. The Phonelabs product has a vastly
larger list of supported cell phone brands and models, over 1000
now. The other one just works with a handful of Motorolas many
of which, like mine, are about obsolete.

With the Dock-n-talk if you switch cell phones you would just
need a new cable (unless you went with Bluetooth).

I believe we picked the way better product to sell by choosing
Phonelabs. I am ordering one in here to test with the TMC phone
systems that we sell. I plan to put it on line 2 and see if I
    can drop one land line.
