    It is winter. I am lying on bed. Blanket is all over my body from head
    to toes. But still I can post this message.

    Because I have this small mobile phone in my hand. Can you imagine
    surfing net in such position on computer, laptop or even palmtop?

    No need to boot those elephant size computer. Did you woke up during
    night and want to check inbox or news? Just take mobile lying on bed in
    hand and press joystick on bookmark and you are there!

    So mobile surfing is far better than computer surfing. It is cheap,
    easy and fast.

    How long did it take you to type it, 20 minutes? Are you blind, yet, or do
    you have a Freznel lens so you can see its tiny screen? All that for $60 a
    month?! Wow....(d^

    I ***** because 2.4TB is not enough space....(c;

    Evidently, you turn your computer off when you go to bed. How do you do
    that? Mine only reboots so the downloading can continue, faster....

    You need a girlfriend......or boyfriend....which ever blows your dress up.

    Well, I agree that typing hurts. But when you are waiting for something
    it is good timepass. Right now I am in theatre waiting for movie to
    start.

    Can you take your laptop in cinema hall?

    And can you upload pics from anywhere? I can.

    GPRS is not costly here in India. Few months ago it was just 3 dollars
    per month. Now 7-8 dollars per month.

    Hmm...The movie finished about an hour ago and I went to a late
    breakfast. I might watch another one that downloaded during the night.
    It got 12 movies I haven't seen, just yesterday. I might watch one of
    those before burning them to a DVD+R for storage.

    My laptop IS the cinema! I take it over to a friend's house and plug its
    HDMI adapter into his 3 meter wide HDTV quite often. A theatre happens
    wherever the laptop is, even in a restaurant...(c;

    >
    > And can you upload pics from anywhere? I can.

    Sure. There's lots of free wifi and I can connect the laptop to it, but
    I normally just store the pics, which is easier than waiting. I use a
    JVC 30GB hard drive digital video cam. It will take a zillion
    multimegabyte stills or digital video, which I like better than stills.
    I'm not very quick on the trigger, it seems, for stills. If I want to
    send someone a jpg, I pick the frame out of the video and send them that,
    later. Of course, with still pictures, noone can hear them scream....(c;

    On cellular, 110Kbps internet is $US60/month. It's slow, jerky and takes
    forever to download anything like a spam-soaked news webpage. The
    cellular companies restrict access to webpages, email and a company
    intranet if you have one and forbid anything else that uses bandwidth,
    threatening to automatically cut you off without notice if they so
    desire, rendering your internet device useless. They call it "unlimited
    access" because it's always 'ON', even though you're forbidden from using
    it the way you like. I think they're afraid we're going to dump
    cellphone service and just run Skype-For-Mobile from a PDA phone with
    WM5, which works great and is much cheaper to use. If anyone boots a
    laptop with a Verizon Wireless Aircard plugged into it, the computer
    automatically violates Verizon's AUP when it logs onto Micro$oft's server
    and downloads the latest patches and fixes for WinXP. How silly....(c;

    I still carry my cellphone for a PHONE, which it does acceptably, in most
    places. Many cities, fed up with the childish infighting and
    commercialization, are installing free wifi for their citizens, and
    Charleston, SC, is no exception. Down in the "downtown" part of the
    city, there's free wifi all over, now, without using someone's
    unprotected router, and the system is expanding. There's lots of free
    wifi for the laptop if I want to carry it. I also carry Netgear's new
    wifi Skype phone, just for fun. It logs onto any wifi it finds open like
    a little leach and connects to Skype automatically. To call Europe or
    USA from India will cost you $US.021/min, LOTS cheaper than any cellular
    company. I'm using Skype for my home phone, now, disconnected from the
    wireline phone company, long ago. At home, Skype works MUCH better than
    cellular because my own wifi signal is full scale all over the house and
    cellular's signal, like millions of other users, sucks in most of my
    house. If I don't answer the cell, it forwards to my Skype In number and
    vice-versa, so I always get the call on "something"...(c;

    Of course, Skype phone/computer to Skype phone/computer anywhere on the
    planet from your house to mine is always FREE and unlimited.

    I don't understand how can it happen. I use opera mini browser and
    never faced any problem while accessing gmail, hotmail, yahoo or any
    website. I never recieved any warning message.

    I use Airtel mobile service. There is strange problem. One year ago I
    complained to higher office of Airtel that they are not deducting DAILY
    gprs charges from my prepaid a/c. They rectified problem. 3 months ago
    my sim card was blocked because I was playing with pin code. I
    purchased new sim card, activated GPRS but since last 3 months not a
    single rupee is deducted from my prepaid a/c. They are supposed to
    deduct Rs.12 from my a/c everyday.

    I had specifically told airtel officers one year ago that there may be
    thousands of people in india who are using gprs without paying
    anything. But it seems they don't care. This time I am not going to
    tell them.

    But I am regularly filling my prepaid a/c. They can deduct all backlog
    whenever they want.

    You don't suppose they are running on the same Indians that operate Dell
    Tech Support, do you....(c;

    (You have to deal with Dell to get the full meaning of that. I sent back a
    defective Axim X51V PDA that wouldn't stay booted over 4 hours.)

    640K actually, which is still a technical limitation, although nowadays
    easily circumvented.

    64K....IBM PC came with 64K, all you'll ever need. I think DOS (oh, oh,
    we're not supposed to call WinXP DOS any more) still runs in 64K pages....

    I paid big money for a 256K expansion card for my Compaq XT luggable that
    looked like a sewing machine. I found a receipt from "Crazy Bob's Computer
    Warehouse" in Atlanta for a 33MB (not GB, MB) Tulin, full height hard
    drive, the biggest one available at that date. I paid $1995.00 plus
    shipping!

    Memory and storage have gotten lots cheaper since the "good ol' days" of
    computing.....(c;

    64K was a great step up from my 4K S-100 bus machine, however....BASIC ate
    most of it, though.
