Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to get Cingular's HTC Wizard
    8125 and Skype
    Mobile working.

I've found the 8125 too slow for Skype, until the release of the mobile
2.5 beta version. Now it runs fairly acceptably on my T-Mo MDA (the T-Mo
version of the 8125) without overclocking.

As far as configuring, you can't- Skype trys connecting through your wi-
fi (if available) then cellular (with your permission) but if your
carrier's data plan doesn't have the right ports open, Skype simply tells
    you you can't connect.

Skype doesn't use "certain ports"...it uses ANY ports for this reason.
Skype chooses a random port number when you install it, but if you click
TOOLS then OPTIONS then CONNECTION you can enter any port number you like
into the box for Skype to use for its connections....unlike "other"
systems. While you're there, put a check next to port 80 and 443 as
alternative ports and Skype will try all 3 ports if it doesn't connect on
your selected port. Use a port the browsers use the carriers wouldn't
block and you're in business.....except for being in violation of their
AUP for cellular internet, of course. If they see you streaming and
using lots of bandwidth, most of them, especially Verizon, will cut you
off without notice and won't allow you on their internet service again.

You can enter any port number you like, but I'd avoid ports like 21 (FTP
which is forbidden) or ports like those the carriers would block
purposefully to prevent downloading. They blocked the NNTP port, so
Usenetserver.com retaliated by opening up many ports so subscribers could
access Usenet through their cellular carriers because of the damned port
blocking trying to prevent someone paying $60/month for internet from
    actually USING it.

Not Skype Mobile. AFAIK, it always uses port 80, which is problematic
for us cheapskate "T-Mobile Web" users, who don't have port 80 open
    (usually.)

Again, yes in Skype for PC, not for the PPC version.

Maybe your provider, but T-Mo doesn't restrict streaming, as long as you
configure all use through their restricted ports/proxy (which Skype
    mobile doesn't allow either.)

Sorry to reply to myself, but in the interests of accuracy...

Apologies to you and Skype, Larry. The new 2.5 Mobile beta does support
ports as well as proxies, unlike 2.0 and 2.1. It's a very good release,
BTW, working reasonably well on my HTC Wizard's very slow 200MHz processor.

It's a bit of a memory hog, tho- it only loads after a fresh reset.

However, anyone who uses a WinMo device is used to resets anyway...

Oh, sorry. I only had the Dell Axim X51v for 10 days before sending the
PoS back to Dell for a refund. It crashed just sitting there! Yecch.

I could have sworn the Mobile version had a way to select the port,
    though....
