I'd like a combo phone/PDA, but would rather purchase a prepaid
wireless plan, since I don't use the phone very much. Is this
possible? Is there a better/cheaper way to go about this? Thanks!

Yes it's possible in most countries. In what country are you?
Just buy the PDA/phone and a prepaid card.

Thanks, I'm in the US. Looked at a few prepaid plans, they all seem
to have specific phones that will work with their plans.

Well you can use ANY Verizon capable phone on PagePlus, and any unlocked
GSM phone on T-Mobile or Cingular. What you probably can't do is to use
the web-browsing or e-mail functionality of the PDA on prepaid.
Of course you'll pay a lot for a PDA phone without getting a contract.
