I'd like to set up a home network for my phone systems, but here's the
catch - I only have one line - a Bluetooth enabled cell phone. I am
confident enough that I can wire my home phone lines, but I do not
want to hook up phone service through a regional provider.
The scenario I'd like to accomplish is if I am at home and someone
calls my cell, it will forward to my Bluetooth enabled house phone,
using the cell service. I can't forward calls to the house phone since
there is no active service for the house.
In addition, if I wanted to initiate a call from my house phone, it
would use my Bluetooth enabled cell phone line to achieve a dial
tone.
I'm sure this is possible, but not sure what all I need other than the
two phones....and possibly a Bluetooth card for my PC for routing
purposes...
any ideas? I sure could use a nudge in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!

When did cell phones start having "dial tones"????

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by "phone network?" I assume
you just want to use your home telephone equipment through your cellular
line?

Google for "Dock n talk"- it's cellular "base station" you plug your home
telephones into to dial through your cell. They make a BT version as well.

With no dedicated line for the home phone you really can't forward from
the cell to the home phones- instead, your home phones seem like
sophisticated "headsets" with dialing capability to the
cellphone.

Yes.

Now I'm confused- what does the PC have to do with any of this? Your
home phones will be connected to the Dock n Talk and the D-N-T connected
to the cell via bluetooth.

The concept is generally called "Tellular" and there are several
different brands and models of interface hardware- Dock-n-talk, and
Cellsocket I remember off the top of my head (I own an old Cellsocket I
bought from eBay for $10 that's compatible with the old Nokia 51xx/61xx
series phones, so I keep an old 6190 around to stick my SIM in when I
need tellular service.)
