Is it possible to buy a sim card for an individual EU country (Czech
Republic, Austria, Germany) which permits unlimited GPRS data usage?

I have an unlimited data plan on my U.S. cell phone - surely there is a
way to do this in the EU as well?

Are you asking about contract service, or prepaid? I'm not sure where
you can get an unlimited data plan in the US with a prepaid SIM.

I do know, however, that with a T-Mobile prepaid SIM in the UK data
charges are limited to $2/day for either GPRS or HSDPA (the latter is
quite speedy), though they threaten to throttle you if you regularly
use more than 40 MB/day. With a contract SIM I think the same service
costs $15/month with a 1 GB limit, or $30/month with a 3 GB limit before
    you get throttled.

I'm unfamiliar with prepaid plans in the countries you mention but
I guess something similar to the UK might exist. I know of no way
to find out what is offered other than by looking at the web sites
of the carriers in each country.

My intent is to be able to access email/web when traveling in the EU.
Since it will be a short trip prepaid service makes the most sense.

As simply as I can put it, how do I take a GSM cell phone to Europe for
a short trip and access web/email via GPRS or Edge at a reasonable cost?

As a starting point, you also might check out www.prepaidgsm.net,
particularly if your language skills are limited to English. While not
always up-to-the-minute, the PrepaidGSM site shows the prepaid offerings
of virtually every wireless carrier worldwide. Once you find the more
attractive offerings you can check their websites directly for
    confirmation or the latest specials.
