You _)should_ be able to get a white
pages listing. This topic has come up in
the usenet group comp.dcom.telecom and
the folk involved have described what they
had to do.

It's possible to do with your own equipment but wold
take a modest amount of expense and knowledge.
A simpler alternative which might work: you can get
answering machines that immediately dial out
to your "pager" (that was the original intent)
once they get a msg.
I've set mine up to call my cell phone. When someone
leaves me a msg on it, it dials out to my portable.
I see the Caller ID and check the machine as soon
as I have a moment. (Since I dont' actually answer
the call, there's no additional charge).
My outgoing machine msg is simply "please leave a msg
and I'll get right back to you.".

Don't know where you live, but Cablevisions service in N.J. offers a "find
me" option at no extra charge. It rings my home phone and the cell
simultaneously.

Re: Landline Answering Option - Press to Forward to Cell Phone
Thanks for your replies; I see it's more or less a teleco feature and
not a hardware feature.
The teleco does offer forwarding... I have the choice to have it ring
my office a set amount of times and then to automatically go to my
cell phone if it doesn't pick up or to have the landline go directly
to my cell phone. Either one of those will inevitably work but I was
hoping for a more customized solution as I didn't want to be
automatically forwarding telemarketer calls to my cell phone. That's
really the big issue here... if I have a separate "press 1 to go reach
my mobile phone" then a telemarketer legally can't press 1.
