Hi there. If anyone can help I ll be saved!.
I have a Nokia 3100 and the start button which is made out of rubber
has gone with time, and now I cannot switch the mobile on.. I have
all my contacts in the device and its a disaster, half of my jobs and
    friends.
Does anyone know how I can access the memory somehow? I bought a the
usb that connects the phone to a pc but the problem is that the phone
must be switched on in order to gain connection.
    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Gone as in "worn out," or gone as in "fell out and is now missing?"

While I've never owned a 3100, I've owned a couple dozen Nokias in my
    life.

If it's worn out, wiggling it while depressing usually works. If
missing, depressing the actual switch contact the rubber button
    normally\pushes (with a small not-too-sharp or too-pointy object)
    ought to work.

As an aside, be careful with the USB cable if it's a non-Nokia off-
brand. I bought an eBay clone of the CA-42 and it killed my PC
motherboard through the USB port- apparently it works if you plug the
csble into the PC first, then the cable in the phone. Unfortunately
for me, one time I plugged the cable into the phone first, then into
the PC and "blammo!" My cheapie cable that "saved me" $20, cost me a
trip across town to a PC parts shop, $80 for a motherboard, and
    several hours work.
