Mac Rumors: Apple iPhone Teaser Ad Airs During Oscars [Updatex3]

Apple aired their teaser ad for the Apple iPhone during the Oscars tonight. The ad has run multiple times during the Oscars.

The advertisement started with a collection of scenes from television and film with actors saying "Hello" on a telephone. The scenes are played in rapid succession, and the iPhone appears on the screen. Then a black screen with the words: "Hello" ... then ... "Coming in June" and finally an Apple logo.

    Movie Mirrors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (HD), 6 (Google), 7 (HD), 8

Update: The iPhone now has "AT&T" rather than "Cingular" listed in the corner. image. Cingular is now the new AT&T.

Update 2: Maclantic notes that the background music is Inside Your Head by Eberg (iTunes Link). A sample of the track is available in MP3 format from Eberg's site.

Update 3: Forum user Clonenode has compiled a list of all the actors (with the exception of one) who appear in the iPhone teaser ad. The one actress left off the list was Audree Tautou according to Mac fly (film)

They just happened to pick some of my favorite movies. haha

I thought that was cool too. You have to say they are one of the most brilliant marketing companies around. Of course, I'm a marketing nerd so I like that sort of thing

I'm confused. How does wrapping old technology in a new package constitute an "awesome device?"

LOL. The iPhone is a joke. A toy that is gonna flop and flop hard.

They give the latest phones out every year at the Oscars thinking that 12 year olds will rush out and buy them if they see their favorite movie star using 'em.

Couple years ago, they gave all the stars V600s. Anyone remember the last time anyone saw anyone using a Moto V600?

Strongly recommend that you don't buy Apple stock based on any forecasts on the iPhone. One sales distribution channel (Cingular) and a belief that Cingular will sell 12 million of those puppies does not make a compelling business strategy. Plus you can only sell the things in California because they'll be unworkable in most other parts of the country 1/2 of the year.

It amazes me how people can say things like this.

In any other business world, having an also-ran product that never gains traction in market share and is slammed year after year after year after year after year by your competitors would never in a million years be considered "brilliant."

An Olympic athlete hurling a projectile at a gigantic Orwellian TV screen and smashing it might win some creativity awards in the advertising community but that will never compensate for getting your clock cleaned perpetually by your biggest competitor.
