I`m a newbie here and I have some questions, hope someone can help me. I have recently purcessed this Chinese made iPhone 8GB A88. My account is with Rogers so I just swapped the sim card over to the A88. Now the phone is working fine as long as I`m outside but as soon as I get inside (anywhere - my house, mall, store) the signal strenght dropps to nothing. The phone doesn`t acctualy tell me that it lost network but since I have no signal, I can`t make/receive calls. Also, a letter "G" it comes on and it goes off constantly - I asume it is the 3G network. Now, my other phone that was provided by Rogers is a Samsung SGH C417 and that phone picks up a signal even if I`m in the basement. Called Rogers customer support but they "couldn`t" help since they didn`t sell me the phone.... Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions about the kind of settings I need to do. I would have a hard time believing that this phone has such a poor signal reception that I have to be outdoors to be able to make/receive phone calls.
Thing I can do with the phone when I have signal: make/receive calls, send/receive texts. I can NOT access the internet nor send/receive Multimedia Messages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Chinese A88 questions

I was looking at the same phone for most of the same reasons. I'll stand down for a bit after hearing your tale. I suggest you may have a problem with the receiver in the device which isn't good. If you have a friend with a similar (even a non-clone) it would be interesting to see how many bars they pull in one of the spots that are dead to you. Stupid simple things to try are holding the phone in the air and turning it at right angles. The antenna is internal and short of opening the case there is little you can do to improve receiption. To open the case may invalidate what warranty you have.

I read the fine print recently and you have only a few days to return these phones. The dealers I have communicated with will accept returns but I'm sure that's a protracted process which also means your off the air until you get a replacement.
    Regards

    Re: Chinese A88 questions

I did a check on the sciphone and the i68+ gets pretty good press. Has anyone operated one of these on Tmobile? It's a GSM service and i would expect some functionality but due to the exclusive nature of some of the iPhone features they may be tightly wound to AT&T service. I'm wondering if an unlicensed clone-phone on a carrier other than AT&T has any chance of working.
