Iphone without data plan.

So my friend has the insurance on his phone and i was asking him if he would call in and get his replacement phone and i could get it. I've also heard that if you jailbreak a phone you can use whatever contract with it. The only problem is that the I phone has a weird sim. How can I get a sim for that phone?

All SIM cards are physically the same. If the iPhone is unlocked, any SIM card will work in it.

He's wrong.

SIM Cards were designed on a global simplicity system. They're all the same to avoid global confusion.

If you have an iPhone on AT&T, even an unlocked one, and they notice it you will receive two options from the : 1) To add a data plan, 2) to terminate service and pay penalty.

If you take it to a carrier other than AT&T, they will most likely not really care what plan it is on.

Also, remember in the United States (if that's where you're at) you can only use phones with SIM Cards on companies that use SIM Cards. This limits your choices to basically T-Mobile and AT&T. Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, and all the most of the others do not use SIM Cards.
