Cheapest Place to Get iPhone 3GS 32gb in good condition?

My wife and I are looking to get iPhones for Christmas and since we're going to college, we're looking for a deal.

Any deals you've heard of?

I'm looking in the Classifieds and on eBay. Just curious if anyone has come upon and GREAT deals!

I use Craigslist (CL) to buy my phones but not everyone is comfortable with CL. I think the best deals are on there. Ebay is another option but I don't monitor it enough for me to catch the best deals.

I bought an almost new 3GS right when the iPhone 4 came out. People couldn't wait to sell their 3GS to get an iPhone 4. That's the people you want to target, ones that want to sell their phones to upgrade. Some people are desperate and will let them go cheap.

Some tips on buying:
You should ask how old the phone is because you want one under a year old. It hasn't happened to anyone I know, but once the battery goes you'll have to pay to replace it. I think there is a way to check the purchased date on apple.com by checking the warranty info. I would pay a little more if you could prove that phone is under 6mo old.

Also check the ESN# and make sure it's not blacklisted by AT&T. If that person skipped on the bill, AT&T might have blacklisted the phone meaning that you would not be able to use it on their network.

I bought a 3GS in July off CL, it's 3 months old and the person had the extended 3yr warranty for $250. I think I got a great deal because of that warranty which you don't see many people get.

I would check out CL, you can see the real market value of phones there in real time. Watch it closely for a week and you will become familiar on what the average price is. Then if you are looking for a lower price than that, at least you know a great deal when you see one. Be ready to move quick to buy it, sometimes those great deals go fast.

I strongly believe in buying a slightly used phone. I am using the iPhone 3GS without a contract and enjoying every minute of it, pardon the pun. No contracts, no worries about a termination fee, very cheap monthly cost and all because I bought a slightly used phone. Good luck!

Anytime is good to buy, as long as people are upgrading to iPhone 4's, there will be people selling iPhone 3GS. My parents have now watched me save so much money every month since I bought my iPhone 3GS with no contract, I pay around $15 a month for just about unlimited service.

So last week their contracts ran out and they asked me to find and buy them 2 iPhone 3GS for them that they want to use with no contracts.

I looked on CL here in Arizona and there are tons of them around here.

There's no problem getting one in perfect condition, no scratches, under 6 months old for $250. I could probably buy at least 3 - 5 at that price this week. If I want to wait a week or so for a great deal I could probably buy the same phone for $200. For $300 I could have my pic of many, like new 3GS, but search for a day or two and you should be able to pick one up for $250
