CNN has a list of their biggest tech "fails" of 2010 and the #1 spot is the iPhone 4 antenna issue, aka "antennagate." Perhaps it was inevitable that the hubris of Apple's past decade would eventually catch up with the company.
Antennagate, as you may recall, was the issue around a precipitous drop in "bars" (the apparent reception on your iPhone) when the iPhone 4 was held in the "death grip." I experienced this on launch day, even had a few dropped calls when putting the lower left corner of the phone into my palm. But according to Apple in a rare press event to address the issue, less than 1% of iPhone owners actually reported this issue to Apple.
Nevertheless, CNN also notes that the issue has quietly faded away (after a bumper giveaway and OS update or two), and the phone is still a huge seller. The fail appears to have been a mere blip. It certainly didn't have as widespread an effect as the Gawker media sites being hacked, which came in at number seven.- via The Unofficial Apple Weblog

I have yet to drop a call on my iPhone 4. My wife finally dropped one on Christmas Eve after over five months of heavy usage.

Re: iPhone’s ‘antennagate’ biggest tech fail of 2010 (according to CNN)
No kiddng, I've had my iPhone 4 since July and I'm still waiting on my first dropped call. The whole antenna issue is a big hunk of BS. It IS true that the signal will drop if you grip it in the right spot on the left side of the phone, but I never had a dropped call issue. I used the phone for over a month without any bumper, case or modification at all, and since then, after adding the free bumper, have continued to NEVER EVER NOT ONCE EVER had an issue with a call dropping. Even with the issue that it does have, it affects less than 1 percent of iPhone 4 owners, and is easily resolved by adding a bumper or avoiding the 'sweet spot'.
CNN is a garbage news service that is not watched by anyone anymore (look at the numbers if you don't believe me...http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/30/bu...dia/30cnn.html). They sat around for 5 minutes coming up with "the biggest" list for 2010, and the only thing anyone could come up with is was the antenna-gate story because they're too lazy to actually do the research, whereas, if they had, they might have come up with something more realistic, like the fragmentation and stability issues Android phones suffer, or my personal belief of the biggest tech blunder of the year... Microsoft's Kin 1 and Kin 2 (that cumulatively sold less than 10,000 units before being tanked after only 2 months on the shelves). Don't you think that the Kin debacle is a bigger deal / bigger loss for Microsoft than the lie pushed by hack media outlets like CNN and the competition about a pretty minor issue that affected less than 1 percent of iPhone 4 owners???? Pa-leeeze.
