Hey everyone! So I currently have cingular (will most likely remain on cingular), but my phone that came with my plan is broken and my contract won't end until 08. I have been looking to get replacement phones on ebay (since they are generally cheaper).
However I do not know which phones are compatible with cingular. I know the basics that if it has a sim card slot and it's unlocked it will most defiantly work (if I insert my sim card). But what about if the phone in unlocked and it has no sim card slot? For example the samsung u740, will this work for my cingular?
If anyone can show me or explain to me what I should be looking for in finding a phone that is cingular compatible I would gladly appreciate it. As well as how I can tell if a certain phone has a sim card slot.
Thanks for your time

The phone search page on eBay allows you to select the carrier, brand and features. Only GSM phones will work with Cingular and only GSM phones are locked or unlocked. You cannot lock or unlock any other type of phone. You will need a GSM phone which operates on at least the 850 megahertz and 1900 megahertz frequencies. If you found a phone like the one you currently have, it will work just as the old one and you would not have to learn how to use a new model.

If it has no SIM card slot,it is most likely a CDMA phone. Not GSM,and therefore will not work on ATT.

AT&T/ Cingular has been with SIM cards for at least 3 years. 2 years ago they started charging non-GSM user, I think, $5.00 extra per month. Since then I think they even sold off their non-digital service.
Best bet is find a GSM phone with a SIM card (although they probably go hand-in-hand).
