Re: Why Is AT&T The Most Expensive Carrier For No Important Reason?

    One word...

    iPhone.

Nuff said 'bout that. Probably the single biggest reason AT&T has been gaining customers on Verizon to the point where they're nearly equal with Verizon just slightly ahead. I was with T-Mobile for 4 years and had great service and coverage the entire time, and was completely satisfied with my plan, service, and everything. I wanted an iPhone, and the only way to get it was to walk into AT&T to get one. I did have reservations about going with AT&T because I hear alot of s*** about them from any and everyone who DOESN'T have them. After being with them for the past year, I can easily say that I've had no issues with either coverage or dropped calls. Overall, there is one spot where I have trouble getting 3G, (my brother's house), but it connects to EDGE ok, and I can make/receive calls with no problem either. Other than that, everywhere I go I get both good voice and data (3G) connection and have had maybe 1 or 2 dropped calls over the course of a year. Rollover minutes are great since my 450 minute plan is low by most standards, but I don't call much and have accrued 40 hours of rollover minutes, not to mention that night/weekend minutes are separate and 5000 minutes, 83 1/3 hours, is pretty much the same as unlimited. If you're running out of minutes with that sort of night/weekend minute plan you need to hang up the phone and get a life. So, to recap, I get great coverage, plenty of minutes, the fastest 3G network, and all that with an iPhone in my pocket. It's my guess most folks with AT&T are getting the same, so that's why they're doing so well.

When it comes to cell phone service providers, try to take what you hear from other people with a grain of salt. For whatever reason, people take their service provider personally, so they'll bad mouth and dog other networks for no apparent reason. Whenever someone talks about how much AT&T sucks, I ask when they had service through them, and most of the time, they say, "Oh, I've never had them, but I've heard....". I've had service with both AT&T and T-Mobile, and both companies are pretty good overall, and I imagine that Verizon and Sprint are probably pretty decent overall as well. At the end of the day, they've all got strong and weak points.
