When a user browses a website from their cell phone (iphone, blackberry etc.), is it possible for the website to read their cell phone number?

From the AT&T Wireless Service Agreement:
Miscellaneous: Not all plans or Services are available for purchase or use in all sales channels, in all areas or with all devices. AT&T is not responsible for loss or disclosure of any sensitive information you transmit. AT&T's wireless services are not equivalent to landline Internet. AT&T is not responsible for nonproprietary services or their effects on devices. If applicable, use of Desktop Toolbar requires compatible home computer products. AT&T RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TERMINATE YOUR SERVICES WITH OR WITHOUT CAUSE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, UPON EXPIRATION OR TERMINATION OF YOUR WIRELESS SERVICE AGREEMENT. Caller ID blocking is not available when using the Services, and your wireless number is transmitted to Internet sites you visit. You may receive unsolicited messages from third parties as a result of visiting Internet sites, and a per-message charge may apply whether the message is read or unread, solicited or unsolicited.

Unless a person is using their phone to make a voice call, their wireless phone number wouldn't show up anywhere. However, the IP address from the device that they are using to post with, would be displayed.

This was from the section on data. there would be no occasions when a voice call would connect to an Internet site. All websites track the IP addresses of visitors. The phone number is embedded in the IP address since all phones connect from the same host. Without that there could be no two-way communications. Webpages could not be refreshed.

The only way to see what a website sees is to connect to a website controlled by you to see what information is provided by your phone when connected. They may not display the information to others just as your IP address on a computer may not be visible to others connected to that website.

I don't think so. There is header information that's passed to a website, but that doesn't contain your phone number. Just your ip address and that is usually ATT's IP address.
