new phone emercency?

I just got a new razr v3 installed my sim card and it just says emergency anyone know why?

sounds like your sim card is not active. Did they send you a new one?

1.Is your V3 from AT&T or unlocked? I am presuming your SIM card is AT&T.

2. If it is a PrePay SIM do you have money left in it?

the V3 is unlocked and the sim is att/cingular. It is a prepay and there is a lot left on it, I called att to be sure. when I turn it on it says searching for network than redistering then emergency only.

You are trying to use this where you have used your PrePay SIM before, right? The reason I ask is that AT&T PrePay only works where there is native AT&T and not with associated roaming partners like the postpay does.

yes I use it here all the time, it just worked in my other phone.

I am almost fresh out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of, is trying another SIM in the V3 to rule out amy problems with the device itself.

This is what I got from the dealer I got it from;
"How long do you have th Simcard? also, Please try to set up network for me, Go to Initial Set up-> Network-> Available Networks-> select your carrier. If it doesn't work, try to do again with Initial Set up-> Network-> Available Networks-> Network Setup and then select band Automatic and select Speed-> Fast."
but in initial setup there is noAvailable networks but I did fine netorks in another place and did what is said til my battery went dead.
