Lately I have found myself in need of a mobile telephone, and have been looking at what the cheapest options are.
There are unlocked GSM phones on ebay, and elsewhere, that I presume would work fine with the AT&T network, but I understand that there is a SIM card that contains the information used to actually connect to that network.
If I buy an unlocked phone on ebay, and go to an AT&T store, will they give/sell me the SIM card for the pay as you go plan?
If not, and I also buy a SIM card on ebay, will they program the SIM card that I have purchased to function on the pay as you go plan?
The particular phone I'm looking at is the Motorola F3.
Thanks,
Robert.

Since this phone is a dual band GSM phone, make sure that you get one for the United States market. It has to have both the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands. If you have both the phone and an unactivated SIM card, you can activate your account for free at https://www.wireless.att.com/activations/. Since the phone does not have data capability, you cannot send or receive multimedia messages.
