I have a Samsung Mythic. The touch screen is pretty good. Honestly, though, I haven't seen anything come close to the iPhone...

Yeah, its screen is probably the best right now. Blackberries have fairly good physical keyboards, though.

Re: Best Att touch screen w/ or w/o a physical keyboard?

    I have T-Mobile's G-1.
Although the touch screen is pretty cool, the keyboard is the worst I have ever had in any phone. I have the white G-1 and the keyboard is silver with grey lettering. The silver is somewhat reflective and difficult to see in certain lights. The back light is mostly non existent so if you are in a dark room or trying to text at night, you wont be able to see the keyboard either.
The worst part, though is that the keys are flush with the keypad and are very stiff to push in. You cannot 'feel' the keys since they are all flat and flush. Maybe times you have to push more than once to allow the phone to 'register' the push of its keyboard.
I am a woman that keeps her nails at a decent length to type and if you have anything but chewed off fingernails, you wont be able to text on this phone. Most men I know that have this phone also have trouble with their big hands/fingers. Clearly the phone was designed for those with small fingers and NO fingernails.
( **When I first got this phone I went back to the TMobile store 3 times before my 14 day expiration was up, to which I was told, "You'll get used to it!". I called T-mobile about the keyboard to which I was told, "The kiosks in the mall sell silicone keyboard replacements for this phone. After you buy one, youll love this phone!". After running all over town and searching the internet, I came to the conclusion that T-Mobile was pulling the wool over my eyes. There is in fact, NO silicone keyboard for the G1.
I did go back to the T-Mobile store at that time to change out the phone but it was day 15 of owning the phone and you must return by day 14.....and even after being a loyal customer for about 6 years, they basically told me that there was nothing I could do....even though their employee's had given me false information.)

The battery life on this phone is very short. Be prepared to charge your phone mid day if you want to use it into the night. A car charger is recommended at all times.

I rarely use the camera, but if you do,, you basically cannot use it at night. There is no flash so you wont get a good picture. Days only folks!
