don't understand why this topic is closed ?? However my adivce immediately drop AT&T because they just suck ...
Recently they will now charge for data (no more unlimited..)

Switch to T Moblie , for me the very best carrier for cell phones !!! C'mon they are international ,
Deutsche Telekom , you can't go better !!!!

read my first topic about the nightmare with AT&T !!

Got my first bill from at&t : $301.00 !!!

(sorry not able to post url, since my post's are less then 20 ..)

some more info :

AT&T's New Data Plans: The Backlash

AT&T triggered plenty of debate on Wednesday when the carrier unveiled its new tiered data plans for smartphone users and discontinued the unlimited data option for new customers. New smartphone (and iPhone) owners will have to choose between two plans: 200MB of data at $15 per month or 2GB at $25 per month.

update :

The new tiered pricing structure gives AT&T customers the following options:

200 MB for $15 per month. If you exceed the limit, AT&T will charge $15 extra in units of 200 MB.
2 GB for $25 per month. If you surpass this limit, you can pay an extra $10 per extra gigabyte.
Current smartphone users can continue their unlimited data for $30 per month — but if they switch to one of the cheaper plans, they can’t go back to unlimited.
To tether your smartphone to a computer, you must use the 2-GB, $25 plan, and pay an extra $20 for the tethering privilege.

AT&T strictly for loosers ..

Re: Why Is AT&T The Most Expensive Carrier For No Important Reason?

T-mobile is a great carrier but they do have one big problem; that is lack of coverage in small cities and rural areas. Verizon has the biggest network but they have several problems. they are just as expensive as At&t and huge down payments for sub prime credit accounts. Sprint is low cost and are good for people with low income and poor credit but they recently been sued for irrelevant fee charges.

At&t has rollover minutes but if you really think about it you will never need rollover minutes. I here customers brag that they have 1700 minutes saved up in their account because they have rollover. To those people I would like you to consider this scenario: If i had purchased a 1000 minute per month talk plan with rollover at At&t but only used 900 each month, each year i would save 1200 minutes. That sounds like something but what if I did the same exact thing with any other carrier, lets say T-mobile for example. Again 1000 minutes but only use 900 but this time with out the rollover. I don't get the 1200 minutes at the end of the year. What is the difference? nothing because if you can save minutes with At&t then you can do it with any other carrier with or without rollover. If you never go over your minutes then you don't need to save them either. Rollover minutes are minutes you will never ever use. If rollover is such a great thing then why isn't every one else copying?

Yeah, I think the rollover minutes thing is useless. So what if you have 900 minutes left over, that just means you paid for minutes you didn't or won't use.

well ok, here is another horrror story :

An AT&T customer service horror story :

An AT&T customer service horror story | InSecurity Complex - CNET News

The manager admitted my phone account showed "very minimal use" and noted that the last time I had used my landline was in May. (Ironically, that was when I still had an iPhone and couldn't get coverage on AT&T's wireless service while working from home, so I was forced to use my landline. I got rid of my iPhone shortly after that.)

Infuriated at the notion that I had been effectively forced to pay hundreds of dollars for a service I didn't need, I contacted an AT&T spokeswoman to get official comment. After spending two days diving into my account, she told me that the customer reps probably didn't mention DSL-only to me because they actually charge more for the unbundled service than they do for the bundled service. In other words I would be paying about $5 more for the so-called "naked" DSL, or DSL Direct.

I suggested to the manager that AT&T should repay me the $600 or so that I had spent on phone service over the years since I had barely used it. Instead, he offered to refund the amount I had paid since I last used the phone, which came to about $60. Read more: An AT&T customer service horror story | InSecurity Complex - CNET News

AT&T is losing market share and fast. When Verizon finally gets the Iphone it will be interesting to see how many more people will jump ship and switch to Verizon. AT&T's customer service definitely is not the best by any means and their coverage isn't the best either. For instance - I live in Philadelphia - the 5th largest city in the US and we have horrible 3G coverage. My phone is always draining quickly because it is always searching for coverage.

Not even 3 years ago - AT&T had the highest percent of coverages between all carriers in the US. Verizon maintains it customers through good customer service and good coverage. AT&T has to realize it needs to step up in order to start getting market share back.

It will be interesting to see whats in store.

Re: Why Is AT&T The Most Expensive Carrier For No Important Reason?

Maybe it's me but all major carriers are expensive. Sprint might have the best unlimited price at $69.99 but when you add taxes and fees I'm sure it's up $80 - $85. Have an EVO 4G, add another $10. Verizon is not much cheaper than AT&T so I wouldn't jump ship from AT&T just to go to Verizon for the price, the only thing that would make me switch is if I had issues with AT&T's service in my area.

Tmobile's prices are good but their phone lineup is weak but improving and coverage could be better. They need to upgrade their data speeds as well.

As AT&T's tiered data plan, well Verizon can expect the same in the next 6 months according to the CEO. And as more and more people switch to smartphones, tiered data plans will be the norm and drive the cost of unlimited data plans very high if they will be an option at all.

If people are worried about cost then get yourself a non contract GSM phone (AT&T & Tmobile). Verizon and Sprint phones are handcuffed to their carriers, at least with GSM phone you can jump carriers to get better prices and there's more choices out there than people think.

$40 unlimited talk and text plans are everywhere for any type of GSM phone. Can you live with only connecting to data over WiFi???...then your monthly price can be so low you wouldn't believe it

So that's why I see all carriers as expensive, not just AT&T. For the record, I was a former AT&T iPhone customer till I got tired of them using every tactic in the book to get every last dollar from me.

I still have an iPhone, no contract and laugh all the way to the bank every month

Re: Why Is AT&T The Most Expensive Carrier For No Important Reason?

I really don't know why.. I suppose it's because the iphone is the most popular thing that ever hit the market so they take advantage. I saw a youtube video that has people arguing about the speed of the networks and they say T-mobile beats out AT&T by far. The video shows the speed test at the end; however, the discussion comments are what interest me
