The only way you can save activation fee and monthly fee, is if you return the phone and cancel your contract. If you keep the phone, you will pay at least first month's plan charges and activation fee and your early termination fee.

I heard that if you even can early terminate without activation, in first 3 days so you can save Activation fee, and save on prorated monthly charges. Do I need to fight with them or it's all OK.

You may be breaking Federal law to export electronic devices to Cuba without a license. Your friend in Cuba might be arrested for accepting delivery.

Actually, it is strictly prohibited to export/import items to/from Cuba...with or without a license.
