So Im smack dab in the middle of an alltel>att transition and Im trying to figure out if I can stick with my current/old alltel unlimited data plan rate and use it with a smartphone that isnt part of the "heres your choice of 3 free, comparable phones and 3 phones only type deal". Ive contacted an alltel rep and he was telling me that all I had to do was transfer the sim card that I got with my free, comparable phone, into any unlocked or att phone from radio shack, best buy or what have you. IF they do send me a bill for the data will it just be on top of my original alltel plan rate or will it even work? I dont mind paying extra for the phone but if I have to sign with att and their crap data plan then its hello verizon. Bottom line, is there any way I can take the sim card out of this att samsung eternity 2, pop it into a motorola atrix and everything remain the same? Or am I living in a dream world? Theres too much gray and I dont know much about phone carrier mergers, terms and loopholes plus I know att has disclosure policies but I also know theyre trying to make a buck so any knowledge would help
