I have been trying to get AT&T hooked up to my new house for 5 years.... I repeatedly was told that the service is not available in my area. One day I discovered a technician servicing the AT&T box at the end of my driveway and asked him some questions. He explained how poor their computer system is and provided some tips to get hooked up. It took months and months but finally I was able to get a home phone line ran to my house. Their computer still said that internet was not available. I called the tech that installed my home line and he gave me a direct number to a department that could help me. He also elaborated on the problems with AT&T's computer system. A few days and 2 hours on the phone I had internet. It still took the installer 6 1/2 hours to get a glitch in their computer system resolved. At the time of order I decided to switch my cellular over and ordered 3 new iphones. I was offered a promotional ipad mini for $99.99. I had been shopping and new this was a great deal. I accepted and the sales person repeatedly confirmed my order. I was told that I needed to log in and accept the terms and conditions on Monday morning. My instructions came and said my temporary password would be sent separately. This never showed up. It took three different techs and several chat sessions to finally get logged in four days later. I accepted the terms and conditions for the three new phones. This did not include anything about the internet install or the promotional ipad mini. I received the three phones and two of the phone numbers were reversed. Not a big deal. Swapped the SIMs and they were fine. I logged in to check the status of the ipad mini two days in a row and it showed order processing. Order details were not available. Being concerned, I called on Tuesday and was told once again about the computer problems and the added chaos from Black Friday. The sales person told me to rest assured that it was still being processed and I would receive this soon. I wasn't reassured and called back today (Thursday). There were no records of any ipad mini on my account and no records of my calling two days prior. I spoke to three people, one being a manager, and was told that it was too late to adjust the order and get the ipad mini for the promotional price. After 45 minutes I conceded and let them win. The five years of waiting for a better service has ended in a complete disappointment. The techs and service personnel seem to be excellent. The computer system and management on the other hand can only be described as incompetent.
