i have successfully finished every step in this tutorial for bitpim: http://tutorials.thephonemall.net/aud8910pic.htm
however, my only problem is that there is no 'photo' section when i expand the camera tree of the filesystem view. i have plenty of pictures on the phone, and i also tried uploading a picture to it (bitpim confirmed it was successfully uploaded) but it did not show on the phone itself even after a reboot.
if anyone has an idea as to why there is no 'photo' section, an idea on how to retrieve it, OR knows of other means to get pictures off the 8910 besides using bitpim, PLEASE reply. thanks!

final update LOL
i was getting frustrated so i ended up just expanding every single column and going thru each one, i found my phone's pictures under
brew > shared > jpeg
note to any other 8910 users, the tutorial states that the pictures will be located under camera > photo --- this seems to be false. to add/recieve, go under the column as i have stated

adding pics to 8910
i have the same problem when i add photos. so...i got around it!!
heres how i do it...
i take about 10 shots..with the camera..that i have no intention of keeping.
i get 10 photos that i want on my camera.
go to photoshop..resize them all to 640x480..or leave the "automatic adjustment" on..and make it 640x(whatever photoshop gives it)
leave phone on.
plug into usb (which is already plugged into comp, leave phone closed)
open Bitpim
go to "filesystem"
let it get your information.
(i have no "photos" folder on mine (cellular one customer)...so..
my photos are listed under BREW > SHARED > JPG. photo 1, 2 etc..
all 10 shots are located here.
i right click on each photo...selecting "overwrite"..then when the window prompts me, i select which photo i want to use in its place (one of the ones that i just resized and saved in photoshop)
thats it. Dont even need a reboot. just close BitPim, disconnect phone...and walla...photos are in the memory and ready for your wallpaper.

Didn't work for me. Sometimes there is the choice to overwrite, sometimes not. When the option is available, and I try, I get a long error message which might as well be writen in Greek as far as I'm concerned. So far, all I can get to work is the download of pics as dinker describes.

You need to use a little memory as possible so resize downloaded wallpaper to 125x148 at 400 pixels. Save them as *.png. 640x480 takes up a lot of memory.Last edited by lulu836; 07-25-2005 at 03:00 PM.

I know there's some risk with transferring data to the phone, but is there when you're "passive" and only copying the photo files off the phone to your PC?

I have never suffered any adverse effects of "playing" with the 8910 file system. I have uploaded and deleted many, many ringtones and wallpapers. I change them about every 3 days depending on the mood of the day.
The only caution is DO NOT delete photographs you have taken with the camera using the data cable. Always delete photographs using the phone.
In any case, the risk is totally yours. Some folks have had success while others have totally wrecked their phones. It's your call!!

I'm cautious, and I only really want to d/l pix off the phone to my PC, so I'll see.
Thanks anyhow.

For some reason I can't get the photos I'm u-loading to my phone to show up. Bitpim says it's in the Jpeg folder, but nothings there. I've tried overwriting images already on my phone, but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

You say overwriting doesn't work. In what way? (the files should be replaced)

When I overwrite the image, the new image is half of the new image and half of the overwritten image.

That sounds like a timeout issue.
If you have a Verizon 8910, try increasing the baud rate in the USB DIAG menu by entering ##7678. Other than that, try shutting down some programs that might be hogging CPU/Memory at the same time, just in case it's making the transfer take longer.

How do I increase the baud rate? I have the diag set on USB DIAG. I tried overwriting again and the same thing happened.
