I was wondering if it is necessary to use GCD files when transferring multimedia files directly to my PM8912 using a data cable. I just want to add some midi, jpg and gif files and thought I could add them to the MA directory using a data cable and bitpim and then delete the contentinfo file (causing the new files to be added to the rebuilt contentinfo file). Also, if this method is possible, then would I leave the original file names and extensions or do I need to use the naming conventions found in the MA directory (10.dat, 11.dat etc...).

I tried using GCD creator, figuring I could "trick" the phone into thinking the media files had been downloaded (add the GCD and the media file). I don't have a WAP server and I think you have to have one because GCD Creator will not run. It prompts an error saying:

"classfactory cannot supply requested class"

Please let me know, as I don't want to try this without some educated feedback first.

Thanks,

Ken
