All I'm gettting is the phone book, schedule, andmessage managment. But I do not see anything with ringtone or wallpaper. The the cable I got is INSTEN usb data cable and then it says that I'm able to get my phonebook calendar, ringtones, and pictures. Can some one help me?

Well, in general all of the CD-Rs that come with these cables contain outdated, or simply incorrect software for your phone.

That said, what you describe sounds normal. Here's why...

The OEM version of the 8910 has unblocked (or "uncrippled") firmware, allowing the program to do what you were expecting. However, a lot of the customized firmwares for each carrier that has the 8910, hav blocks and disabilities written in at their request.

The phone is made by Curitel, and distributed by Audiovox/UT Starcom. Although there is a version of Curitel's PC Sync for the TX-115C (aka the 8910), a lot of it's functionality is blocked because of the carriers. That said, it's worth installing, even if just for the drivers you'll need for the other programs you'll need to transfer those images.

Firstly, let's make sure you get the right version of PC Sync, here's the one for your phone:

    http://www.curitel.com/UploadDATA/mf...115CPCSync.zip

Uninstall what you installed from the disc, and then install that.

While crippled, PC Sync will allow you to backup/edit your messages, contacts and calendar.

To transfer images, you'll need BitPim or QPST.

    BitPim: www.bitpim.org
QPST: (you'll have to search for this one )

Reboot after the install of each program. Then connect the phone when done. Some carrier versions of the 8910 require you enable USB DIAG mode before connecting the phone to the PC. Try without doing this, but if the phone isn't recognized, disconnect the phone, then enable it via ##7678 on the keypad before reconnecting.

To use QPST, you may need to know the MSL code of your phone (Try QPST without it first to see). An MSL is specific to a model of phone on a specific carrier. (You didn't say which carrier your 8910 was on) You can retrieve the MSL off your phone with BitPim by browsing to the nvm/nvm folder and copying the nvm_0002 file to your hard drive and opening it in notepad. The second six digit code will be your MSL. You'll use that code in the SPC field of QPST. (Just replace the zeroes with it)

You'll use the filesystem tab in BitPim, or EFS Explorer in QPST to get to the pictures. Just click the + to expand the filesystem tree on your phone. (The newest release of BitPim requires you activate filesystem tab view. (View/View Filesystem))

If you have any problems when starting the programs, just make sure they're using the correct port in their settings fields. It should be the Curitel Packet Service Port.

Browse to the Camera/Photo folder, and either copy over individual photos, or copy over the entire folder to your HD.

For ringtones, you'll likely have to overwrite ringtones already on the phone, unless your model has BREW. (You never mentioned the carrier)

For more specific info on ringtoners, check out:

That's probly everything you need to know. Good luck.

YOu lost me at "To use QPST, you may need to know the MSL code of your phone (Try QPST without it first to see). An MSL is specific to a model of phone on a specific carrier. Sorry for being a pain in the butt.

    Thanks for the help.

Unlike BitPim, QPST requires you enter a code in order to access the handset. In order to be programmed to a certain network, a phone usually requires two different types of codes. A SPC, and a MSL. An SPC (Service Programming Code) is a six digit code that all different model phones sold by a particular carrier use to be programmed. An MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) is another six digit code that is also required for some programming, but also to lock a phone to a specific carrier so that the user can't take it to another.

QPST states that it needs the SPC to access the phone, but actually it requires the MSL code. The instructions I posted above were a way to discover what your phones MSL was, so you can use QPST.

QPST is a program created by Qualcomm for technicians, while BitPim is a freeware version. QPST is considered better by some (including me), but it asks for the code.

Once you discover your MSL, you should post it so others with the same model on the same carrier need not go through this process.

Um, I just checked, and someone posted two different codes for a MetroPCS 8910 elsewhere:

    587846 and 619372

I think they could be from a refurbished phone, seeing as SPCs are usually 1 digit repeated six times, and one of those codes should be an SPC.

Anyhow, if you get QPST and want a shortcut, try those codes, and let us know if either work.

all i want is help getting my pictures of my daughter off of this stupid virgin mobile audiovox 8910, i finally was able to get a usb cord connector for it, but as always the stupid lil disk it comes with, that crucial non sense will not work and keeps prompting me to install and then doing nothing.i have tried what you suggested 6 different ways ...BIT doesn't recognize my phone, so i cannot connect. I have windows xp home, does this have something to do with it? I dl'ed the pc sync but it says my device isn't connected, there is nothing wrong with my ports.. and i already uninstalled the crucial crap b4 downloading the pc sync.. is there any thing else i can do, or am i just screwed?

Re: Need help with Audiovox 8910

You may be able to use bitpim on it too.
That is, if you have the drivers like the previous post states.

The links that were posted to obtain a driver are all pay 39.95 I am not paying 40 bucks for a stupid driver. bit doesn't work because my phone isnt listed and i have no more money to invest in this, CAN ANYONE HELP WITH LOCATING THE DRIVER FOR FREE, OR IS IT A LOST CAUSE? Those are the only posts I need back, not more links to a costly solution.

I didn't know you didn't have the drivers.
Under settings in BitPim, for the handsets select "other" (I think, i haven't used it in a while). You can then look into the file system and find anything from pictures to text messages. You just need to explore.

No phone will can communicate with PC without a USB driver!
The driver should be on your stupid disk.
Expore the CD, install the driver, then run Bitpm
