Dunno what that other guy's on about. At least in rural Victoria, the
Telstra CDMA network has better coverage than GSM. GSM tends to fall off
a bit once you depart any significant distance from the Princes Highway,
particularly in East Gippsland.
CDMA doesn't have a blanket coverage, but it is better than GSM out
here.

Youre an idiot, read the quote from the op "and keep my exisiting plan and
number."
I then commented on the number and plan. And you said "wrong"
So your comment could have been about either, f-wit

Too bad Globalstar is a satellite network, not a mobile network.

It is. As it is around the Latrobe region. However, there are patches
that where AMPS had good coverage, GSM and CDMA are non-existant. North
of Glenmaggie comes to mind.
What I don't understand about CDMA is that it's s'posed to have a long
range per cell. Say, 30 km? In Cowes, Phillip Island, I'm lucky to get
one, maybe two bars signal. Out at the race track, about 3 km as the
crow flies (according to my GPS anyway), the signal is full strength.
Or at Corryong, in NE Vic. Good CDMA coverage. 18 km away at Tintaldra,
there's nothing. Not a zack.
